Entry Fee

The non-refundable entry fee of $20 ($15 per contestant if more than one family

member is competing) for the first division of each contestant must accompany

the official entry form with the required documents. 


Personal checks, cashier’s checks and money orders are acceptable. 

A $10 fee will be charged for all returned checks.


Make all checks payable to “DeLeon Judo Club”

Awards

Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.

Additional awards (Medals) will be presented to all competitors

Eligibility

All female and male contestants who are current members of United States

Judo Inc., United States Judo Federation or United States Judo Association. All

contestants must be familiar with the sport of Judo and the rules in connection

therewith and have sufficient ability to safely compete in this tournament.

Contestants, their parents (in the case of minor contestants) and their

instructors have the responsibility of ensuring that all contestants meet this

requirement.


Competitors must present current USJA, USJF or USJI membership card.


Those without a valid registration will be required to register with USJA or

USJF at registration desk to be allowed to participate in the shiai.

Elimination and Pooling

The Pool system of scoring will be used. Depending on the number of

contestants, the Tournament Director reserves the right to combine or change

groups to benefit the majority of the contestants. All contestants must compete

at their true age and weight except where the participant is uncontested; the

tournament director reserves the right to adjust player pools in the best

interest and safety of the contestants. Coaches, Instructors & Parents will have

an opportunity to review the categories and confirm their child's/athlete's

suitability for participation.


Competition Divisions

These will be divided in to both Male & Female Divisions. 

Co-ed pools may be used with contestants under the age of 10.

Rules

The matches will be conducted using the current IJF contest rules with the

following modifications:

  • Injury Rule: Pre-2003 IJF injury rules
  • No SHIME WAZA (chokes) Jr. Division (under 13 yrs)
  • No double drop-knee SEOI NAGE Jr. Division
  • No KANESETSU WAZA (Joint lock techniques) All divisions
  • No KANI BASAMI (flying scissors) All divisions
  • No KAWAZU GAKE (leg entwining) All divisions
  • 1 minute Golden Score Jr. Division (under 13 yrs)
  • "First Score" Golden Score Intermediate Division (13-17 yrs)
  • "First Score' Golden Score Senior Division (over 17 yrs)

Contest area will be 6 x 6 meters with 4-meter safety border between contest

areas and 3-meter safety border on edges.


Match durations:

Junior Division........................................................... 2 minutes

Intermediate Division......................................... 3 minutes

Senior Division (White/Brown).................. 3 minutes

Senior Division (Black Belt).......................... 4 minutes


“Golden Score” process for determining winners in a tied match.


Any changes to the pool must be made prior to the start of the pool in order to

receive a refund for the tournament.


The CARE system will not be used.

Winners are determined by: Most Wins, then Most Points, then Head to Head

Contest, then Higher Rank Loses, then Smaller Player Wins.
